Championship Finals Day 2008

The "Quiet Man" James Tetlow Celebrates becoming the 2008 Lochend Club Champion.
A superb comeback from 4-down to win with a birdie at the first extra hole.

Steven Cockbrun also made a great comeback to retain his B Championship title. 3-down at one stage to John Selcraig Steven came back to win at the 17th.

He may have been the hot favourite for the C Section but Gavin Glendinning had to work hard to win the final today.
The match with Robert Johnstone went no less than three extra holes.

Linda Bain has been outstanding this year and in the Ladies Championship Final it was no different today as she proved too strong on the day for Captain Eileen Gillespie. A 5 & 4 win giving her a Lochend and Turnhouse Championship double.

Eunice Reid and Sue Sayer contested the Ladies Bronze Championship Final and a good match it turned out too.

And the golden ones also got in on the act as Willie Hamilton and John Todd contested the Seniors final which Willie won 2 & 1
And it wasn't just about the players

There was the Caddies, obviously taking the job seriously

And of course the spectators.
Alan Thompson, carrying the refreshments, finds a novel use for one of those discarded putters.

At the end of the match its handshakes and smiles following Linda's match-winning putt,

So near to a 6th Championship for Stuart Turner but having lost at the 19th to James Tetlow's excellent birdy which followed a match saving 9-footer at the 18th it couldn't have been closer.

Celebration Time

Some of you longer-serving Hibs fans may remember this crooner. Former Hibs manager Willie Macfarlane who led the hibs from 1969-71.
