|Its three in a row for Linda Bain.
Linda Bain was in red hot form in today's final and proved too strong on the day for Lady Captain and three times Champion Eileen Gillespie.
Previous meetings between them in the finals have saw Linda slow to start and often going a few holes down before getting into her stride, not today. After Eileen won the first hole Linda, fresh back from holiday in America were she played the famous Championship Course at Sawgrass, was at her best and Eileen had no answer to Linda's fine scoring (including a two at the shortened 8th) and relentless putting.
A 5 and 4 win gives Linda a unique double having won the Turnhouse Ladies Championship earlier in the year. Confidence must be sky high for her latest venture into the Champion Of Champions tournament.
|Sue Sayer wins the Bronze Champoinship
The Bronze Championship was a closely fought see-saw match as Eunice Reid and Sue Sayer exchanged the lead more than a few times before Sue eventually sunk the winning putt at the 18th. Capping an incredible week for Sue which started with her best ever round to win the September Bronze Medal.
Linda Bain secured her place in the Ladies Championship final with a comprehensive win over Pat Meikle.
Linda, aiming for a 6th Lochend Championship, continues to show the form which has brought her an Open win at Ladybank and a Championship Title at Turnhouse already this year.
This years Championship continues to be plagued by the weather. Following another downpoar tonight which scuppered any chance of the course re-opening in time for this weekend it has been decided that the Championship Finals will now take place on Saturday 27th September.
Semi-Finalist have been asked to arrange their matches sometime before then.
6th August Rain Stops play
Unfortunately Edinburgh was hit with a months rainfall in 36 hours meaning the semi-finals had to be postponed this week.
Plans are under way to re-scheduled the semi-finals for Wednesday 20th August and Finals Day for Saturday 23rd. Fingers crossed.
However four ladies decided to play the nine holes that were open tonight and found out just how bad it was. (thanks to Eileen Gillespie for the pics)

Eileen Gillespie and Linda Bain both took a step towards another final showdown with big wins in tonight's quarter final. The two who have dominated the last 6 championships both proved too strong for Violet Paterson and Coleen Derighetti respectively with both matches finishing at the 12th.
However I'm sure they will be given tougher tests on Wednesday night as Jaci Moriarty won a closely fought match with Diane Moncreiff at the 16th. This followed a superb morning round at Downfield where she won the Bank Of Scotland Championship, a very good day will put her on a high for the semi-final with Eileen.
Unfortunaly Myra Law was unable to play tonight due to back injury which meant Pat Meikle received a walk over.
Pat's recent medal win and good showings at both Banff and the Musselburgh B Championship should put her in a good frame of mind for her Semi-final with Linda.
It was good to see Pat puting her unexpected free time to good use tonight with on-course reporting and score updates throughout the evening well done.
In the Bronze Championship, Eunice Reid was taken all the way to the 18th by Eileen Stevenson and will now play Margaret Richards. Sue Sayer will meet Fiona Findlay in the other semi-final. See you all on Wednesday.
The final Championship Qualifyer today and there were a few interesting moves.
Eileen Gillespie leapfrogged Linda Bain to take the top qualifying position proving it will be as competitive as ever.
Pat Meikle, Myra Law, Jaci Moriarty and Coleen Derighetti all bettered their qualifying score by a considerble Margin
