Important update re COVID-19 guidelines for using Clubhouse
We hope this email finds you well. Firstly can we take this opportunity to thank all members for their cooperation in adhering to the current infection control measures currently in place within the club house. Unfortunately new rules are now to be implemented.
With the recent increase of Covid-19 circulating in the community additional infection control measures have been introduced by the Government and the following applies to the club premises from today, Monday 14th September until further notice.
When entering Lochend Golf Club you must wear a face covering/mask and this can only be removed when seated at a table. If you move around inside the club house ie to attend the locker room or toilet you must wear a face covering/mask.
Also only 2 households can sit together ie a 4 ball all from different households having a drink after their game would need to sit at 2 different tables.
The above is a mandatory requirement it is not optional.
Fortunately we have plenty of space within the club and we ask all members where appropriate to make use of the main bar, lounge and function hall.
In anticipation many thanks for your continued co-operation

Locker Room’s Re-Opening
Hope everybody is well.
Club Championships: Thanks to all the members who have played in the match play stages.
Congratulations to our finalists. The finals tee off from 12.00 on Saturday. Unfortunately because of the current restrictions we are unable to organise our usual “finals day”. However we will clean and sanitise the championship trophies and these will be placed on a table in the function hall so that the winners can have their photos taken with them. Please note that only the winners are allowed to handle the trophies.
Locker Rooms: As you will be aware we can now use the locker rooms again from Monday 31st August. However this does present some challenges because of the lay out. However we are preparing to open the lockers on a trial basis. We would ask that you adhere to the following rules.
· Only one person at any time in the locker room. (Can be one each in Ladies & Gents Locker room)
· Do not queue in the foyer, wait outside.
· There will be a sign placed outside the locker room door which will indicate if somebody is in the locker room or not. Please turn it to the correct side when you enter and leave.
· Use the hand sanitiser before entering and when you leave.
· The locker room is only open for collection and storage of your clubs. You go in and collect or return clubs and come straight out.
· Absolutely no changing of clothing or shoes in locker room.
· The locker room toilets are not in use.
· Please note that the bar door in the foyer is for bar staff service only. Once you leave the locker room you can only enter the bar from the doors opposite the 18th green.
· The door entry system will be turned back on from Monday 31st.
· Please arrive in plenty of time before your tee off as there will sometimes be a queue.
Because of the club layout there is no perfect solution here. If we all stick to these rules then we can safely use our lockers again. We are very much relying on the co-operation of each other.
Bar Service: Thanks everybody for your patience and support in these past weeks. It’s been a challenge for everybody and we have had to make changes when the rules have been updated. It may be that you cannot always get into the members bar as all the seats are taken however we have plenty of room in the lounge bar and hall. Please keep to social distance rules and if you have symptoms then stay away. We do anticipate being visited by the licencing officers or environmental health.
Unfortunately Silverknowes GC had to close its doors for 72 hours this week because one member chose not to follow the rules.
Ensure you follow the guidance from our bar staff. I also want to say a big thank you to our bar staff who are working hard in difficult circumstances, have adapted to the necessary changes and are keeping everybody safe.
Good luck to all our Championship finalists this week.

Update from Scottish Golf regarding Locker Rooms
Dear Member Clubs,
There have been a number of enquiries in recent days with regards to locker rooms and confusion as to whether they are permitted to be back in operation and we felt it was appropriate to provide an update to all clubs on this topic.
In anticipation of Scotland entering Phase 3 of its route map out of lockdown, Scottish Golf provided all clubs with a Readiness Guide to support you in preparing for the reopening of Clubhouse Facilities. This Guide, which was subject to change, was issued in advance of announcements by Scottish Government to give all clubs as much time as possible to prepare for several significant changes that would impact on how your clubhouse operates. It was however issued noting that it was subject to final approval once public announcements had been made.
Following the announcement that we would be entering Phase 3, Public Health Scotland and the Scottish Government later confirmed that locker rooms must remain closed at this time.
As and when this guidance is changed, we will inform all clubs. We thank you for your continued understanding at this time and should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

NOTICE TO MEMBERS
RESTART OF GENTS COMPETITIVE GOLF
The Club intends restarting competitive golf for the gents on 4th July 2020. Obviously in these times adjustments have had to be made and to that end guidelines on scorecard procedure and a revised fixture list will be posted on the Website and on Social Media outlets. The Club will also text and Email members who have registered their details with the Club Secretary.
Members should be aware that the events listed on the revised fixture list will be subject to change, sometimes at short notice, as we will have to comply with guidelines issued by both The Scottish Government and Edinburgh Leisure.

Letter to members 5th June
The long road back for Lochend Golf Club begun today as the course re-opened, with booking and playing processes that are very different from what we’ve been used to. There were a few teething problems with bookings which are being dealt with, but generally, it appears to be working as well as can be expected. To assist members with the new normal we’ve composed the following guidelines on how to book and/or contact Edinburgh Leisure regarding password/membership issues (note the arrows on the bottom left will navigate pages).

Letter to Members
While golf is an outdoor sport that allows players to exercise in the fresh air, the message to all of us is clear, we must stay home and play our part in containing the spread of COVID-19. With this in mind, Scottish Golf asks that all golfers in Scotland refrain from golfing until further notice.
LATEST DETAILS FROM SCOTTISH GOLF
Following an emergency committee meeting this evening we are sorry to inform you that it has been decided to close the Club and Clubhouse from tonight until further notice. This means next week’s club AGM and the Ladies AGM are now postponed and all competitions until the end of April are cancelled.
In these exceptional times, our priority is the continued health of staff, members and visitors: we already know of two regular members who are showing symptoms of corona virus and are now self isolating.
You will still have access to the locker rooms.
We will keep members informed and updated as often as possible.
You may already know that Edinburgh Leisure have announced that they are closing all their golf courses until further notice from this Friday.
This has been a very difficult decision but one that I am sure you will all understand why it has been taken.
If you want to contact me on any matter please use the above email address: email@example.com
Best regards, keep well
