Only two players managed to beat the course today in the latest Par competition where you take on the course on handicap. Both Mandy McBain and Nicola Wheatley finished 2-Up with Captain Mandy taking the Tuesday Girls Trophy on the better-inward half (2-Up).
Three players finished A/S with the course, Fiona Findlay took third place on the b.i.h. from Vivien Mitchell and Jaci Moriarty.
In the League Table today’s result means Nicola returns to the top with 16 Points, Jaci Moriarty one point behind and Eileen Gillespie a further one point back. Fiona Findlay and Eileen Gillespie enter the top five for the first time this season.
Brian Coyle and Charlie Vesco won the John Batton Pairs today with a Better-Ball score of 55, with Kyle Quinn and Martin Kyles taking the runner-up spot with 56.
There then followed 4 pairs scoring 57. All four had the same inward half (28). It took the last three holes to determine that David Stewart and Scott Kidon took third place from Graeme Chapman and Andrew McArthur. Last three holes were also needed for Stefano Vassella and Graeme Grant to take 5th from Mitch Storey and Sandy Wright.
Scottish Golf are investigating the scoring issue, will publish their findings as soon as possible.

Jaci Moriarty won the Winter Round Robin Final today. After a tight tussle with Diane Moncrieff, Jaci held on to win at the 17th for a 2 & 1 victory.
Good match from two worthy finalists.
WINTER ROUND ROBIN DETAILS
Myra Law and Jane Maclean win the Coronations Foursomes today, qualifying for the Area Final in August where they will play for a spot in the Grand Final to be played over the Eden Course at St Andrews.
The winning score of 37 gave Myra and Jane a narrow one shot win with Eileen Gillespie and Linda Robertson (two former Lochend Lady Champions) taking the runner-up spot with 36 on the better-inward-half from Trish Lang and Veronica Gordon.
Three players finished the Currie Cup tournament with 40 stableford points. Congratulations to Robert Sutherland who took the trophy on the better-inward half (21 points) followed by Tony Anderson (19 points) and third placed Kevin Fraser (17 points). Graeme Markey made the prizes with 39 points in fourth place.

Kyle Quinn won the Salvesen Shield today with a 5-under score of 62. David Fenwick was runner-up with 64. Next there were four players with the score of 66. Graeme Grant taking the third spot on the better-inward-half from Alex D Ferguson, who in turn was fourth on the better last 6 holes over Graham Chapman.
Alan Thompson won the scratch prize with 72 followed by David Graham who was runner-up on the Better-Inward-Half over Graeme Markey.

Another win for Duncan Ireland today, following his recent Rab Binnie Greensomes at the beginning of the month.
Today it was the Mackie Cup, a scratch tournament with Duncan’s score of 69 taking top spot, three shots ahead of John Selcraig (72) with John’s 63 winning the handicap competition.

Well done the Appin Tap-ins who successfully defended their Winter league Trophy.
The “Appins” who are Stefano Vessella, Andy Gibbs, Colin McKendrick, Gregor Forbes, Denis Macintosh and the un-pictured Peter McKeowan. raced through the knockout stages, having only qualified in 7th place from the League. It all ended today with a 2-Up win in the final over Ian Hume’s Happy Gilmores.
For those of us not lucky enough to make the final there was the Finals Day Scramble. Won by the ABC’s (Rab Cairns, John Brigain, Tony Anderson and Mark Bryant) by a 5-shot margin.
Susan Randall does it again, another trophy in the bag, as 37 points won her the Stableford Trophy today. Veronica Gordon who has recently re-joined the club was runner-up with 36 and Eileen Gillespie was third with 34 points.
April is when the season really kicks into life at Lochend.
Duncan Ireland and appropriately Robert Binnie won the Rab Binnie Greensomes today with a 62, one stroke ahead of Martin Kyles and Kyle Quinn. Third place went to Derek Ramsay ans Stuart McMurdo with 64.

Lochend welcomed in 2022 with the traditional New Years Day Tournaments and despite conditions being tough in “swampland” there was a good turnout for both.
The Gents JB Roche Trophy was a closely run event, with three players on the best score of par 67. Harry Moriarty took the trophy on the better-inward-half from Colin McPherson, who in turn took the runner up spot on the last 6-hole countback from Scott Kidon.
